For responders
For caseworkers, volunteers and staff from any agency or organization who help people recover from a disaster.
1. Request a responder account
Sign up and choose Disaster responder. An administrator reviews each responder account. You can use the app right away; share cards and adding resources open once you are approved.
2. Share cards for clients
Approved responders can make a share card with their own contact details and next steps. A client gets it by scanning a QR code or typing an 8-character short code, and must agree before anything is saved. The card becomes a note in the client's private notes.
- You never see client data; you only see how many times a card was saved.
- Cards expire after 30 days and can be turned off at any time.
- Do not put client personal information on a card.
Step by step for you and for the client, with screenshots: the Quick guide for responders (share-card addendum).
3. Suggest resources (reviewed before publishing)
Approved responders can submit an organization, service, shelter, phone number or link, with a category, a county or statewide, a description and a required source link. Each submission is reviewed by an administrator, who can approve it (with or without edits) or reject it. Only approved records are published, labeled “Added by a verified responder” with the approval date.
What administrators do
- Approve, deny or revoke responder accounts.
- Review, approve, reject or unpublish submitted resources.
- Write and send opt-in alerts in English and Spanish.
- Every administrator action is logged.
Approval is not a background check. Responders and administrators never see clients' private notes.
